Solved how to make parent menu item change bg color

Hi, my client wants the parent menu item to have a different background colour when the visitor is on the child page?

Is that possible?

At the moment, when a visitor is on the top-level page, the menu item background colour is different.

Hi, the parent menu is displaying a different color for regular pages.

When you're a reading a blog post, it doesn't show the blog as the parent menu item with a different background color. Is this normal Wordpress behaviour?
