How can I disable the right-click SaveAs option so that I can prevent images, and especially videos, from being downloaded from my site?
I need it to work for all images and videos, including those in a gallery.

Any help with this much appreciated!

  2. This is considered bad form, as it makes your site completely right click disabled. That means no theft of your stuff, but it also makes it unlikely to get people to quote you, reference you, or back-link you, since they will be completely annoyed with you. Remember that right click is used for more than just save as functionality.

That being said, even if you disable it, there are simple ways of bypassing it - for example, there is always a browser menu that allows you to save an entire page, images, etc.

Here is a page that tells you how to accomplish what you are asking. Before you do it though, read some of the comments about the etiquette.

    Thank you Shanora!
Yes I totally understand it wouldn't be good to entirely disable the whole context menu.
I was hoping for a way to disable the SaveAs only. And only for images and videos.
I have seen the SaveAs disabled occasionally. Hoped it would be simple ...

Thanks for the link. All good discussion...
