Solved Text module Presets not updating other elements using preset

I'm very new to Divi, so I may be doing this wrong. (I've watched this video - it seems pretty basic, not much to go wrong.)

    I create a text heading.
I make it an H2 element.
I style it and save the styling as a preset 'H2'.
I create another text heading element and assign it the preset 'H2'.
I update the original element, but the second element does not update with any new changes.
I noticed that there was the option to select the 'Edit preset styles', which I tried, and also did not work.

I am using imported elements from a local build which I thought might be the problem, but even on new elements created in the server hosted dev site the presets are still not working.

This should be working, but it's not. Any ideas, anybody?

    Cheers
    Grant

To edit the preset, you need to click the below:

And for each module, if you have different values set, then it will override the preset values.

To try, you may create a new module & set it as your preset & you should see it follows your preset styling. Then you may proceed to edit the preset, as per the screenshot above, and it should reflect on all new modules with the preset set (without any modification on the module settings).

Thanks for your attention on this! So, just to clarify, if you wouldn't mind, could you please answer these questions?

Once I've created and styled the module and created a preset, if I duplicate the module (so it'll have the preset from the duplication), if I then select the 'Edit Preset styles' icon (as you show above) all edits I make to the original module should then flow through to all with the preset. Correct?

I've done a test of the what I have just stated, but when I select the Edit Preset icon, the styling gets dropped from the original, as shown here.

But I did then make changes and the changes did flow onto the duplicates. (but how do I stop the styling from getting dropped?)

So it has worked, but this is no good to me if the original styling gets dumped when I select the Edit Preset. Is there something I'm getting wrong?

It shouldn't drop the styling if you click on edit preset. Perhaps it's a bug. You might want to refer to official Divi support & see what they say: https://www.elegantthemes.com/members-area/help

    Yes, I think you're right. I think there's a bug involved.

Last question, if I create an element (text module, with an H2 text element), style it and create a preset from it. If I then create another element of the same setup (not a duplicate) and then assign it the same preset, should the new module/element instantly take on the styling of the preset? Which is what I think should happen, but isn't happening.

Update - it seems to work if I create the initial module, create the Preset and then duplicate the module with the presets. If I make styling edits to the preset using the Edit Presets icon, the duplicates update. This I can work with.

    Thanks for your help!

If you create another new module, you just need to straight away set it as the preset. And for the content area, add your h2 text in it & done. You should then have the new module to be using the preset styles. No other options needed to be set.

Other options is only needed to be set when you wanted to override the preset styles.
