Solved Square feature images changed to rectangle

My feature images for the filterable portfolios started off as square (the images are square). At some point they turned into rectangles, and I can't figure out why. Can anyone help?

Here's a page with a filterable portfolio that shows the problem:

BTW, I tried the other 'object-fit' options too, and they all distort the image in some way.

    Looks fine on my side:

The 'logo design' image was probably a bad example. Take a look at the attached images. You can see that the feature image from the screen shot is stretched when compared to the file 'RtR-feature2.png.'

That's weird. From my side, it doesn't look distorted. See the screenshot below:

Well, that's interesting. I clear the cache, and sometimes I get squares (rather than rectangles), but then when I refresh the page it's back to rectangles again. The first image, the large S, never does change to a square, no matter whether I clear cache or not. See attached. This happens in both Chrome and Safari.
After clearing caches multiple times (sometimes the images showed as squares, sometimes as rectangles), I rebooted completely. Now it looks fine in Chrome, but in Safari images are still distorted. Is there a solution?

Correction: many of the portfolios don't look correct in Chrome either -- some do, some don't.

In Firefox, everything looks perfect. All portfolios load with square images and none of the images are distorted.

Not sure about safari, but I believe the object-fit should be cover, not fill. If I'm not wrong, object-fit: cover; will retain the current image ratio.

Neither of those works in Safari or Chrome, though they both work in Firefox. But thank you for that idea. Any others?

Problem solved: I deactivated JetPack, all images are square and fit accurately.
