How can I use [dp_year] to display current year?

    I noticed that my footer has this <p>© [dp_year] DIVI POWERFUL CHILD THEME</p>
    Should the shortcode already get the year or is it something I should do?

    It should automatically get the year.

    It will only work if you're using Divi Powerful Child Theme.

    If you're using Divi Ultimate Child Theme / Divi Ultimate Footer Plugin, then it should be [du_year]
