Solved INSTALLATION - WILL IT OVERWRITE A CURRENT WEBSITE?

    If I set it up on a development site, am I able to export the sections I need and have them function ok on other websites?
    Or do I need to go through the full installation on any site I am using sections on?

    Not quite sure what you meant.

    Basically, if you wish to export one of the Divi Ultimate’s sections to use on other sites, you still need to install Divi Ultimate Plugin on the other sites as well, in order for the sections to work properly.
