More robust pagination for the blog module

Currently, only next and previous are possible. It would be great to include numbered pagination — in other words numbered links to the prior blog pages themselves.

With the current system, if someone uses the previous button a few times then refreshes the page, it doesn't load page 3. It takes them back to page 1. This is a result of the previous and next buttons not actually taking visitors to the Wordpress numbered pages of blog posts.

 

I'm referring to the main blog page. I can turn on pagination which does let me step backward and forward through pages of articles. However, it's not actually taking me to page 2, page 3, etc... If I refresh the page at any point, I'm taken not to the same set of blog posts I'm looking at, but back to page 1.

Of course, I'm also eagerly awaiting the ability to add the child theme's post list formatting to archive & category pages. Tag pages would be great too!
